Selected use cases
Case 1: External service cost estimation
Using the detailed point cloud and panoramic view and/or 3D model we provide, you can easily share this information with contractors via WebPano. They can access these models remotely, enabling them to accurately assess the scope of work and prepare precise estimates without needing to visit your factory. This approach saves time, minimizes errors, reduces risk and associated costs for contractors, and speeds up the estimation process.
Case 2: Plant change - Design
Whether you are using in-house resources or an external contractor, WebPano allows the chosen designer to precisely plan the new installation using your existing factory resources. With accurate 3D models, potential collisions are avoided, and every task is carefully scheduled. Designers can virtually visualize how new installations will integrate with the current setup, ensuring optimal placement and minimizing errors. This level of detailed planning significantly enhances efficiency and productivity.
Case 3: Plant change – building
Precise planning through WebPano makes the modernization process quick and efficient. By accessing data via the WebPano interface, not only can new installations be carefully designed, but the planning for the plant change-building stage becomes seamless. This includes anticipating potential collisions with delivery trucks or positioning erecting cranes. With such meticulous planning, unexpected problems are minimized, speeding up the process and cutting costs. This thorough approach ensures high-quality work and fewer delays, allowing your factory to return to full operation quickly with modern, efficient installations.
Case 4: Maintenance
WebPano helps manage daily tasks by offering 3D models and 360-degree images. Managers and engineers can discuss projects remotely, significantly reducing the need for field visits. Additionally, WebPano serves as an effective training platform, allowing new employees to get up to speed quickly using virtual site models. Maintenance teams can also link important documents to virtual resources for easier access. The platform assists management in conducting detailed risk assessments and audits, enhancing communication, training, and overall efficiency in the factory.
Stages of implementing digitalisation
Step 1: First Contact
The first step is a simple telephone conversation or online meeting. Here, we discuss if 3D scanning is suitable for your business, about your needs and how our work can benefit you. This helps us choose the best way to help you and ensure you get the most value.
The result: you and we have a clear understanding of what you do and what you want to achieve. We also have a plan for how to bring 3D laser scanning into your company.
Step 2: Collecting Key Details
In this step, we gather all the necessary information to create a comprehensive plan and accurately estimate project costs. A clear understanding of the current state of your documentation, particularly P&IDs, and whether they are up to date, is critical. Additionally, we need to know some key statistics about the assets in your plant, such as the length and number of pipes, the amount of equipment, and other relevant metrics. This detailed information is essential for us to prepare an accurate and tailored offer for your digitalization needs.
The result: We are ready to create a clear concept and give you an accurate cost estimate for your project.
Step 3: Concept and Offer
We prepare a concept and initial offer, which includes a project plan, information on the software being used, and an estimated timeline. We then discuss this offer during a video conference or meeting to ensure all your needs and questions are addressed.
The result: You know potential benefits and costs
Step 4: On-site Measurements and Scanning
We schedule and plan on-site measurements and laser scanning on dates that suits you. The measurements and scanning take from one day to a few weeks, depending on the size of the defined area.
The result: You receive detailed and accurate measurements needed for the next steps in your project.
Step 5: WebPano Visual Plant Launch
We deliver a digital version of your site through WebPano , allowing you to view the point cloud data and 360° images and share it with your suppliers like engineering companies and contractors. You can also use it for internal purposes like everyday maintenance activities.
The result: You can easily access and explore detailed 3D data of your site.
Step 6: Decision what to do next
Once the scan data is ready and access to WebPano is enabled, further communication is essential to formulate a comprehensive plan for full digitalization, including the creation of a 3D intelligent model. This collaborative phase ensures that all aspects of the project are understood and aligned with your requirements, paving the way for a seamless transition to advanced digital solutions.
The result: You decide about further steps.

FAQ
Is 3D laser scanning expensive?
Compared to its benefits, it is actually a cost-effective service. If you consider the costs in relation to, for example, two additional days of downtime on the main installation due to the need for documentation updates, your return on investment will be immediate and very high. The same when you calculate saved time of your people spent on hosting suppliers even before preparing any offer it will occure that scanning is not very expensive.
How long does a 3D laser scanning project take?
It depends on defined area to scan. It can takes from 1 day to a few weeks. During gathering the key information our team will prepare to you initial offer with these details.
Can 3D laser scanning be used indoors and outdoors?
Yes. Absolutely , it is both indoor and outdoor technology, sometimes supported by drone measurements and taking pictures of details inside.
What is the Mini Pilot Program and how can it benefit my company?
Webpano pilot program is an opportunity to explore a small area at low costs and assess the benefits of full implementation of the digital plant view – Webpano Visual Plant. Based on the selected pilot area, we perform scanning and introduce a cloud of points and panoramas into Webpano, making them available for an unlimited number of users. After a specified period defined in the agreement, we summarize the results and evaluate the benefits that full implementation can bring. If participants in the pilot program decide to purchase a subscription, it is only then that it will be charged. Otherwise, the Webpano Visual Plant license expires without any fees.
How do you ensure the accuracy and quality of the 3D laser scanning data?
To achieve high scanning accuracy and subsequent modeling, it is best if we conduct scanning from the very beginning. These are base data, and it is on them that the later model’s accuracy depends. Often data from end-user scanners or external companies are not sufficiently connected by a tachymetric grid, and over longer areas, discrepancies at the end of the measurement chain are very large. Therefore, as part of the measurement procedure, we assume an appropriate number of measuring points connected by a tachymetric network and a second independent network for leveling scans to obtain high levels of accuracy, often counted in 3-5 mm. As part of the provided data, we also deliver reports on the alignment of the tachymetric network and scan registration reports.
How do you ensure the density and quality of your 3D laser scans?
We ensure high density and quality in our 3D laser scans by performing many scans from various locations within the area. This technique ensures that very few spots are left unscanned, resulting in a highly detailed and accurate point cloud. This thorough scanning approach improves data quality and makes interpretation easier, as there are no significant gaps in the scanned data.
Do you offer 3D laser scanning services internationally?
Yes, we have and worldwide presence with offices in Poland, UK, Norway, Ukraine and our representatives in Asia and Middle East
Can I view the 3D laser scanning data in my browser?
Yes. Webpano is an on-line web based service designed for scanning data viewing and sharing.
