As-buit Survey of newly erected cement storage silos in Chełm
This cement plant in eastern Poland recently completed the construction of two silos with a capacity of 125,000 tonnes each. In order to verify the construction against the design 3Deling were commissioned to conduct an as-built survey. Particularly critical to the client was the determination of the thickness of the concrete shells, the accuracy of the survey information was therefore crucial.
3Deling carried out comprehensive high-intensity scanning of the shells both internally and externally along with precise control measurement. The scans were registered into a single local coordinate system. From the point cloud data a series of 2D sections were sliced indicating the thickness of the shell. A 3D mesh model was also created which was contoured using colour to highlight deviations in shell thickness.
