P&ID – updating and conversion of process diagrams
We ensure data consistency between 2D documentation, P&ID diagrams and 3D models.
Up-to-date P&ID diagrams aligned with the existing condition of the installation
We offer P&ID development, updating and conversion based on existing technical documentation, 3D point clouds and CAD data.
We transform non-editable or outdated P&ID drawings into structured, editable diagrams, ready for use in modern engineering and data management systems such as AVEVA Diagrams, COMOS and AutoCAD Plant 3D, as well as other systems tailored to client requirements.
P&ID creation and development
We create P&ID diagrams from scratch when:
- no up-to-date process documentation is available,
- existing documentation (e.g. raster or vector PDF) cannot serve as an editable basis for further work,
- existing diagrams do not reflect the actual state of the installation.
P&ID diagrams are developed using a combination of available data sources, including:
- 3D point cloud obtained from laser scanning
- based on an inventory of the plant, including documentation analysis and, if required, site inspection
- in accordance with client requirements and applicable engineering standards
Updating existing P&ID diagrams
We update existing, editable P&ID diagrams provided in the form of:
- CAD files
- P&ID diagrams created in AVEVA Diagrams, COMOS or AutoCAD Plant 3D
The scope of updates includes:
- updating diagrams to reflect the current state of the plant,
- completing missing elements and tags,
- organizing structure and symbol standards,
- preparing P&ID diagrams for further design stages.
P&ID conversion to target systems
We convert P&ID diagrams into intelligent engineering environments, where drawings function as structured data models.
Supported systems:
- COMOS
- AVEVA
- AutoCAD Plant 3D
As a result, P&ID diagrams:
- contain logical relationships between elements,
- can be integrated with 3D plant models (depending on system capabilities)
- support data management throughout the entire lifecycle of the facility.

Integration of P&ID diagrams with 3D models in WebPano
WebPano enables integration of P&ID diagrams with a 3D environment, including 3D models and point clouds obtained from laser scanning. P&ID diagrams are linked with the actual geometry of the installation, enabling seamless navigation between 2D diagrams and 3D spatial views within a single web browser.
This approach significantly improves:
- plant orientation,
- analysis and localization of process elements,
- troubleshooting,
- technical and operational decision-making.
Linking P&ID diagrams with spatial data
Elements of P&ID diagrams are linked to corresponding components of the installation visible in the 3D model or point cloud.
Links can be:
- created automatically during data preparation,
- defined manually by the user by selecting an element in the P&ID diagram and its counterpart in the 3D environment.
Linked elements are visually highlighted, and the established connections are stored in the system, ensuring data consistency between diagrams and spatial models.
Navigation between diagrams and the plant
WebPano enables flexible navigation:
- directly from the P&ID diagram,
- through the 3D spatial view,
- using element lists for quick search and localization.
This ensures that process information presented in P&ID diagrams remains directly connected to the real spatial context of the installation.
P&ID diagrams without a 3D model
P&ID integration in WebPano also works when:
- no complete 3D model is available,
- only mesh models or point cloud data are available.
In such cases, P&ID elements can be linked directly to scanned reality, making this solution particularly effective for brownfield facilities and partially modeled installations.
A unified engineering information environment
WebPano connects:
- P&ID diagrams,
- 3D models,
- point clouds,
- plant conditions,
creating a unified, online engineering information environment that supports as-built projects, plant operation and modernization.
Why 3Deling?
- experience in working with 3D point clouds and laser scanning data
- expertise in COMOS, AVEVA Diagrams and AutoCAD Plant 3D
- proprietary WebPano platform, enabling integration of P&ID diagrams with 3D models and point clouds in a browser-based environment
- ability to customize WebPano to individual client needs, including functionality, data presentation and integration with other engineering deliverables
